A few "Daniel's" emigrated to the American Colonies in the mid 17th century but despite enormous effort and speculation their UK origins remains a mystery.

In the search for these emigrants far too much reliance is placed upon the IGI. This appears to be especially true of American researchers who may not realise that the IGI, for a variety of reasons, is not a complete record of people in Britain in the 16th and 17th centuries.
